Practice Guidelines
Many specialty societies
and other professional organizations, including the American College of
Rheumatology, have developed practice guidelines for the purposes of reducing
inappropriate care, controlling geographic variations in practice patterns,
and making effective use of health care resources. For a full explanation
of how and why the ACR's guidelines are developed and revised, click
here. The ACR has also developed a Bibliography
of Criteria, Guidelines, and Health Status Assessments Used in Rheumatology.
The ACR is revising
and/or rewriting some of these documents. When that process is complete,
the new documents will be posted on this site.
