The ACR Committee on Government Affairs has the following open positions. All positions are hybrid (both virtual and in-person activities expected of the volunteer).

Committee Description

The ACR Committee on Government Affairs advises on public policy priorities, educates policymakers, and coordinates advocacy efforts by members at the state and federal levels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise to develop policy priorities
  • Develop policy statements
  • Promote in-person advocacy by ACR/ARP members with Congress
  • Participate in in-person advocacy in Washington, DC

The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.

Time Commitments

Virtual

  • Meetings: 1-hour monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:00 PM ET
  • Asynchronous Work: About 1 hour per quarter with 2–3 week deadlines

In-Person

  • Washington, DC: May 2–4, 2027
    • Committee Meeting: Sunday, May 2
    • ACR Advocacy Update and Hill Issues Training: Monday, May 3
    • Hill Meetings: Tuesday, May 4
  • Committee Meeting: Optional in-person attendance for meeting during ACR Convergence (November)

Recommended Qualifications

The ACR Committee on Government Affairs welcomes all interested volunteers. The committee mix would benefit from adding more researchers at all career levels, and members that can easily travel to DC for in-person advocacy.

Interested participants for this committee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Digital and social media savvy
  • A good following on their social media channels
