Subcommittee Description
The ACR Quality Measure Subcommittee (QMS) is a subcommittee of the ACR Committee on Registries and Health Information Technology (RHIT). The QMS oversees the following:
- The development, maintenance, and review of quality measures for patients with rheumatic disease
- The development and implementation of quality measures and quality improvement initiatives to ACR membership through publications, educational content, and implementation through the ACR's RISE registry
Responsibilities
ACR Member Co-Chair
The co-chairs serve as joint leaders of the QMS. They are responsible for guiding its work, ensuring effective collaboration and maintaining alignment with the committee’s goals. Co-chairs share the responsibilities equally and work in partnership to provide consistent direction and support to committee members.
Member-at-Large
- Provide support, perspective, and engagement across all committee activities and goals
- Assist in reviewing documentation and provide feedback and insight to help ensure progress on various committee objectives
- Liaise, as needed, with other ACR departments and national organizations focused on quality measurement
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
ACR Member Co-Chair
- Co-chairs meet with the QMS staff liaison for 1 hour, twice monthly to review PowerPoint slide and other support materials in preparation for quarterly 1-hour committee meetings
- Ad hoc emails in between meetings
- Generally, co-chairs spend 3–4 hours per month on committee work
Members-at-Large
- One 1-hour meeting per quarter in the late evening (currently 8:00 PM ET), but is scheduled based on member availability
- Members-at-large spend 1 hour per month on committee work
Recommended Qualifications
The ACR QMS welcomes all interested volunteers. The QMS would benefit from volunteers with familiarity and passion for quality measurement and evidence-based evaluation.
Interested participants for this subcommittee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Diverse clinical ad analytical expertise
- A strong understanding of quality measurement science, outcomes research, and registry data
- Able to evaluate measures for validity, reliability, feasibility, and clinical relevance
- Able to offer strategic insight into how measures support organizational goals and patient outcomes
