Committee Description
The ACR Committee on Corporate Relations oversees and vets requests for external corporate funding for events (e.g., ACR Convergence, Winter Rheumatology Symposium), programs (e.g., clinical trial webinar education), and resources (e.g., rheum4primarycare website).
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with other ACR/ARP committees to identify opportunities for corporate support
- Creates and enforces policies on matters involving corporate funding
- Develops strategic plans to pursue new revenue streams
- Vets new exhibitors and industry-supported sessions for events
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
Virtual
- Meetings: Every other month via zoom for one hour, usually on a weekday evening after 7:00 PM ET
- Asynchronous Work: About 1 hour per month in the months leading up to ACR Convergence, reviewing and approving new exhibitors and industry sessions
Recommended Qualifications
The ACR Committee on Corporate Relations welcomes all interested volunteers. The committee mix would benefit from adding a pediatric rheumatologist and a practicing senior career rheumatologist.
Interested participants for this committee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Developing funding/sponsorship ideas to grow revenue streams
- Pharmaceutical companies’ priorities, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, and compliance requirements
- Ethics processes related to corporate funding
- Strong advocate for the importance of ACR in the field of rheumatology
