Committee Description
The ACR Committee on Membership and Awards oversees member engagement and growth, manages the annual awards program, and makes recommendations for the ACR Awards of Distinction, ACR Masters and Distinguished Fellows and ARP Awards of Merit.
Responsibilities
- Act as a high-level focus group to ensure feedback received from members and calls to action related to activity and engagement are on target.
- Manage the annual awards program (reviews applications and selects awardees for all ACR and ARP awards including ACR Awards of Distinction, Masters, and Distinguished Fellows ARP Merit, Lifetime achievement and Student awards.
- Make recommendations to the Board of Directors for the
ACR Awards of Distinction, Masters, and Distinguished Fellows ARP Merit, Lifetime achievement and Student awards.
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
- 1 hour per month for committee meetings – usually Monday evenings via Zoom
- 10–20 hours of award nomination review (depends on number of submissions)
- 1 deliberation meeting per year (1.5 days of meeting time over a weekend in July)
- Committee Members may also be required to review and approve communications to members to solicit feedback such as emails or surveys
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Recommended Qualifications
The committee welcomes all interested volunteers and needs to have broad representation that includes individuals who are involved in private practice, academics, research, and pediatrics. This representation helps to review award nominations and provide feedback on membership issues.
Interested participants for this committee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- At least 3 years' experience in practice or research after degree/certification; 5 years preferred
- Previously served on an ACR or ARP committee
