Committee Description
The ACR Committee on Registries and Health Information Technology is charged with the following:
- Supports and advances the appropriate use of health IT within rheumatology practice and clinical research to advance safe, timely, efficient, effective, equitable, and patient-centered care
- Oversee the growth and development of the Rheumatology Informatics System for Effectiveness (RISE) registry for quality, research, advocacy, and value-based programs
- Advance the development and use of defined rheumatology data standards
Responsibilities
- Provide real-world input, feedback, and perspectives into the strategy and implementation of registry products and services, to ensure value is created for all stakeholders, across quality, research, advocacy, and value-based program
- Support and advance the appropriate use of health IT within rheumatology practice and clinical research to advance safe, timely, efficient, effective, equitable, and patient-centered care to improve patient outcomes
- Advance the development and use of defined rheumatology data standards
The ACR Committee on Registries and Health Information Technology oversees:
- Two subcommittees: Research & Publications (R&P) and Quality Measures (QMS)
- Three workgroups: RheumCode, Quality Certification/Center of Excellence and RISE Registry Pricing
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
Virtual
- Meetings: 1-hour meeting every other month; meeting are typically held the 3rd Tuesday of every other month at 7:00 PM ET
- Asynchronous work: All Committee members may be asked to respond to specific requests outside of set meetings for input, feedback, etc. typically through email or an online survey (these requests may require a commitment of 5–10 minutes a month)
In-Person
- Meetings: Committee meeting during ACR Convergence, participation via Zoom is permitted
Recommended Qualifications
The ACR Committee on Registries and Health Information Technology welcomes all interested volunteers. Community-based and academic perspectives are critical to the success of the committee’s work, and the RISE registry to ensure that RISE meets the needs of both clinical settings.
Since most current RISE participants are community-based clinicians, community-based provider and Advanced Practice Provider participation on the committee is especially important.
Interested participants for this committee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Clinical experience
- Data Science
- Biostatistics
- Health/Clinical informatics
- Interest in improving the quality and quantity of clinical data in RISE and raising the visibility of RISE for research and analytic projects
