Committee Description
The ACR Division Directors Committee advances academic rheumatology through support of clinical care, research, education, advocacy, and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Serve as resource to the ACR on matters related to academic rheumatology
- Identify best practices for structuring academic adult and pediatric rheumatology divisions
- Update, analyze, and disseminate data related to divisions, including the state of faculty, trainees and leadership in academic divisions of rheumatology
- Develop programs for the Division Directors Forum and Division Directors Town Halls
- Manage the Division Director Mentorship and Coaching Program
- Engage with the ACR Committee on Education, ACR Committee on Training, ACR Committee on Government Affairs, ACR Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). and the ACR Committee on Research (COR), with one committee member serving as liaison to each group
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
Virtual
- Meetings: 3–4 times a year, for 1.5 hours, usually between 11:00 AM and 5:30 PM ET
- Asynchronous Work: 2–3 hours per month
- Committee members appointed as a Division Directors Committee liaison will be required to attend additional meetings, typically 1–1.5 hours each, up to four times per year
In-Person
- 1-hour committee meeting during ACR Convergence
Recommended Qualifications
Interested participants for this committee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Experience as an academic division director (Note: this does not apply to the Fellow-in-Training volunteer)
