Committee Description
The RheumPAC Committee develops political fundraising content and related marketing efforts and creates the criteria for how PAC funds can best be used to advance the ACR’s policy priorities.
Responsibilities
- Strategize ways to educate and engage potential new donors on the importance of RheumPAC
- Identify which advocacy issues best resonate with different constituents of the ACR/ARP membership
- Brainstorm ideas to incentivize donors and plan donor appreciation events, draft educational content about advocacy for ACR’s advocacy newsletter, The Rheum Advocate, or the ACR's newsmagazine, The Rheumatologist
- Directly solicit individuals via email or phone
- Assist in creating disbursement budget to maximize impact of political donations
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
Virtual
- Meetings: The committee usually meets monthly via Zoom for one hour at 8:00 PM ET
- Asynchronous Work: Optional in-person attendance at committee meeting during ACR Convergence; participation by Zoom is available
In-Person
- Committee members are encouraged to attend Advocates for Arthritis congressional advocacy activities in the spring in Washington, DC
- Optional in-person attendance at committee meeting during ACR Convergence; participation by Zoom is available
Recommended Qualifications
The committee welcomes all interested volunteers. We want to have broad representation from all member types and constituencies. Based on committee priorities, we would like to add our first private practice member.
Interested participants for this committee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Passion for the ACR's mission
- Past experience doing advocacy with members of Congress for ACR or any organization
- Experience in, or desire to learn about fundraising
