Subcommittee Description
The ACR Research and Publications Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the ACR Committee on Registries and Health Information Technology (RHIT). The goal of the subcommittee is to ensure that the ACR’s research focused registry product(s) are developed and used in a way that serves the needs of American College of Rheumatology (ACR) members and their patients.
The long-term priority is to oversee the infrastructure, resources and support that members and third parties need to advance research leveraging the RISE registry and its data to advance the field of rheumatology.
Responsibilities
ACR Member Chair
- Bi-weekly meetings with staff liaison to discuss research and publication action items and ongoing analytic projects
- Monthly meeting with registry leadership to discuss larger registry issues
- Chairing committee meetings
Member-at-Large
- Provide guidance for the operations of the RISE for Discovery pathway
- Review requests for analysis of RISE data to ensure alignment with available data and uniqueness of the project
- Liaise, as needed, with other committees regarding initiatives and projects facilitated by the registry
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
ACR Member Chair
- Biweekly meetings with staff liaison (30 minutes per meeting)
- Monthly meeting with registry leadership (1 hour per meeting)
- Chairing committee meetings (biannual, 1-1.5 hours per meeting)
Member-at-Large
- Meetings: Twice per year, once virtually and once onsite during ACR Convergence (participation via Zoom permitted)
- Asynchronous Work: 2–3 hours per month to review research project proposals and provide feedback
Recommended Qualifications
The ACR Research and Publications Subcommittee welcomes all interested volunteers, but would benefit from experts in vasculitis, scleroderma, and/or myositis.
Interested participants for this subcommittee should have knowledge/experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Strong interest in innovation and advancement in treatment of rheumatic disease
- Experience with the use of real-world data in research is helpful but not required
