Committee Description
The ARP Annual Meeting Planning Committee’s (AMPC) charge is to identify, support, and promote rheumatology professional education at the ACR Convergence meeting. The ARP AMPC works closely with the ACR AMPC to develop an educational program that meets the needs of the diverse ARP membership.
Responsibilities
- Review attendee evaluations from previous years’ annual meetings
- Perform needs assessments and identify learning gaps
- Review current literature related to ARP/interprofessional topics
- Define the educational needs and learning objectives for ARP sessions
- Review session proposal submissions and determine the meeting topics
- Identify and recruit session faculty
- Serve as moderator for sessions
The ARP staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
ARP Member Chair-Elect
Virtual
- Meetings: Lead all committee meetings, attend AMPC Leadership Meetings (3–4 annually) after 5:00 PM ET on weekdays, plus 1–2 weekend days annually (all virtual)
- Asynchronous Work: 1–2 hours per month
- Serve on the ARP Executive Committee
- Attend monthly virtual meetings after 5:00 PM ET
In-Person
- 2 in-person meetings
Member-at-Large
Virtual
- Meetings: Once a month beginning at ACR Convergence each year, including a series of virtual planning meetings held from January to March annually; attendance is mandatory
- Meetings are scheduled based on the group's availability; most often, they take place after 5:00 PM ET on weekdays
- Asynchronous Work: About 5–8 hours per month revising session details and coordinating with faculty leading up to ACR Convergence
Recommended Qualifications
ARP committees benefit from having many professional disciplines represented. Based on the committee mix, the following disciplines are needed: Researcher, Occupational Therapist, Registered or Advanced Practice Nurse, Physician, Practice Manager, Social Worker, and/or Psychologist.
Interested participants for this committee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- A passion and excitement about rheumatology education and shaping the ARP program at ACR Convergence
- Experience planning educational sessions, working well in teams, and understanding the needs of our diverse ARP members
- An interest in collaboration, new ideas, and improving professional learning
