Committee Description
The ARP Nominations and Appointments Committee is responsible for overseeing the nominations process to ensure the election and appointment of qualified leaders who reflect the diversity of the membership. This committee selects members for ARP committees, ARP representatives on ACR committees, and the BOD.
Responsibilities
- Review assigned applications
- Prepare a presentation for the broader committee to guide decision-making regarding the selected applicants to recommend to the ARP Executive Committee and ACR Board of Directors
The ARP staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
The majority of the workload occurs between May 15–August 15 each year.
Virtual
- Meetings: Once every month for about 1 hour, typically after 5:00 PM ET, between January–May.
- 1 or 2-day virtual meeting via Zoom in July to discuss applications and place volunteers.
Asynchronous Work
- Between May 15 to July 15 – hours depend on the number to applications assigned to review. Can be very busy based on the volume of applications in a given year, estimated at 10–15 hours.
- Between July 15 and August 15 – about 5 hours of moderate workload that involves contacting successful applicants and other needed communication.
Recommended Qualifications
ARP committees benefit from having many professional disciplines represented. The committee mix would benefit from adding the following disciplines: Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse, Physician, Practice Manager, Social Worker, and/or Psychologist.
Interested participants for this committee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- An interest in leadership development and committed to helping ARP identify strong, diverse candidates for key roles
- Experience in reviewing job/volunteer applications, understanding the qualities of effective leaders, and working collaboratively to ensure fairness and representation
- An eye for detail and a passion for supporting member engagement
