Committee Description
The ARP Practice Committee brings together representatives from all major disciplines within the Association to champion best practices in rheumatology care.
Responsibilities
- Provides oversight for ARP practice-related initiatives, including rheumatology practice papers, and ensures that educational programs and resources align with members’ real-world practice needs
- Explores emerging clinical practice issues and promotes the interprofessional model of care, serving as the central hub for all ARP practice matters
The ARP staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
ARP Member Chair-Elect
- Monthly virtual meeting with staff to prepare for ARP Executive Committee and ARP eLearning Subcommittee meetings
- Serve on the ARP Executive Committee (attend monthly virtual meetings after 5:00 PM ET and 2 in-person meetings)
- Asynchronous Work: 1–2 hours per month
- Attend ACR/ARP committee chair meetings
- 2–4 virtual meetings annually
- In-person twice per year (May and during ACR Convergence)
Member-at-Large
- Meetings: Every other month for 1–1.5 hours on a weekday after 5:00 PM ET
- Asynchronous Work: 1–2 hours every other month
Recommended Qualifications
ARP committees benefit from having many professional disciplines represented. Based on project priorities, the Practice Committee would benefit from representatives from the following disciplines: Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physician, Physician Associate, Practice Manager, Social Worker, and/or Psychologist.
Interested participants for this committee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Clinical practice and improving care through an interprofessional approach
- An understanding of rheumatology practice issues, developing or reviewing educational resources, and collaborating across disciplines
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail
- A passion for advancing team-based care
