Association of Rheumatology Professionals names 59th president

ATLANTA — The Association of Rheumatology Professionals, a division of the American College of Rheumatology, named Adam Goode, PT, DPT, PhD, the association’s 59th president. An epidemiologist and physical therapist, Goode is vice chair of clinical research and epidemiology in the department of orthopaedic surgery and professor of orthopaedic surgery at Duke University School of Medicine.
Goode teaches research methods and statistical inference and mentors physical therapy students. His clinical interest is in the treatment of low back and cervical spine pain, and his research interests are in lumbar spine degenerative changes, low back pain and surgical outcomes and health services for cervical spine fusion.
He earned his doctorate in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina and his doctorate in physical therapy from the Duke University School of Medicine. He holds a bachelor’s degree in natural science from Mountain State University.
Goode, who has been a member since 2010, leads the executive committee of the Association of Rheumatology Professionals, which consists of:

The Association of Rheumatology Professionals, which serves more than 1,500 members, equips rheumatology professionals with the tools needed to provide quality care for patients, support medical practices, and advance research and advocacy for rheumatology. Association members include nurses, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, practice managers, researchers, social workers and other nonphysician professionals.
