Volunteer Application Instructions

The American College of Rheumatology (ACR), Association of Rheumatology Professionals (ARP), and the Rheumatology Research Foundation (RRF) work with a diverse network of members across all specialties who are passionate about creating effective change for rheumatology patients and the providers who treat them. You can help us shape the future of rheumatology by becoming a volunteer!
Instructions
Review the Volunteer Opportunities page
- Look through each volunteer opportunity that interests you, carefully checking the details such as open positions, volunteer duties, average monthly time commitment, and recommended qualifications and perspectives.
Navigate to the application page
- Click the Apply Now button on any open volunteer opportunity details page, or at the top of the Volunteering site.
Click the dark Log in with ACR button, then enter your ACR credentials
- You will be redirected back to the application page, where you can begin your submission
Page 1: Review your membership and demographic information
- If you need to change your information, click the link for your ACR/ARP account profile and make any updates there. Your information will be updated automatically, but it may take a few minutes to appear in your application.
Page 2: Indicate your preferred committee(s) and position(s)
- Select your membership category to see all ACR, ARP, and RRF committees with open positions for your member type. Choose your desired committees to see available positions and select one committee and position for each preference. If you are only interested in one position, select that committee and position for all three preferences.
Page 3: Complete the open-ended response questions
- For the first two questions, be sure to address each volunteer opportunity you selected; if you have selected three different volunteer opportunities, you should have three answers for each question.
Page 4: Upload your CV/résumé, and if applicable, other documents
- All applicants are required to submit a current CV or résumé. Please be certain to include your complete volunteer history within the College and with other organizations. If you are applying for a board, officer, or executive committee position, upload a brief personal statement and a letter of recommendation. Letters of recommendation can also be submitted to volunteer@rheumatology.org. Personal statements and letters of recommendation will not be accepted for opportunities other than the board, officer, or executive committee positions.
Submit your completed application
- Once you submit your application, you will not be able to change it. You can use the navigation buttons at the bottom of the application to review your application before submitting it. You’ll see a confirmation message, and you’ll receive an email confirming your preferences.
Complete your conflict of interest disclosure
- You will receive a request to complete a conflict of interest disclosure within a few days after submitting your application. Disclosures must be completed by June 8 for consideration.
Application Tips
- Review the application questions (under How do I become a volunteer?) before you begin.
- If you are applying for a leadership position, have your personal statement (under What makes a strong personal statement of interest for an Officer, Board of Directors, or Executive Committee volunteer opportunity?) and letter of recommendation (under Who can write a letter of recommendation?) ready before you begin.
- You’ll receive a pop-up error message if you select the incorrect membership category.
- You can track your progress and move between pages using the arrows at the top of the page or buttons at the bottom of the page.
- You may leave and return to the application at any point, until you submit your application. Be sure to save your work before leaving. Once submitted, your application cannot be changed, but it can be withdrawn if your availability or circumstances change.
