The ACR Committee on Rheumatologic Care has the following open positions. All positions are hybrid (both virtual and in-person activities expected of the volunteer).

Committee Description

The ACR Committee on Rheumatologic Care (CORC) addresses economic, technical, and ethical issues that affect the practice of rheumatology and rheumatology professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Develops position statements on issues related to the management of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases
  • Oversees the publication of practice-related materials, coding education and other practice resources
  • Works closely with the ACR Committee on Government Affairs on advocacy issues related to reimbursement, access to care and insurance matters

The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.

Time Commitments

Virtual

  • Meetings: Held every second Tuesday of the month from 8:00–9:00 PM ET
  • Asynchronous Work: About 2–3 hours per month

In-Person

  • Optional in-person attendance at committee meeting during ACR Convergence; participation via Zoom is permitted

Subcommittees

Please Note: CORC has oversight of these subcommittees, but subcommittee members implement the work.

  • The Insurance Subcommittee ensures that insurance policies impacting coverage and payments for rheumatology services are fair and appropriate. The committee reviews new and update payment and audit polices to educate payers and advocates for policies that prioritize access to rheumatology care and treatment.
  • The Affiliate Society Council serves as a collaborative forum between the ACR and state rheumatology societies.
  • The Independent Practice Subcommittee serves as a dedicated forum for clinical guidelines, payer policies, and practice management issues affecting independent practice and collaborates with ACR leaders to promote private practice sustainability.

CORC welcomes all interested volunteers as the committee’s work benefits from the diverse perspectives of rheumatology professionals, including community practice physicians, advanced practice practitioners, advanced nurses, pharmacists, pediatric rheumatologists, practice managers/administrators, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and fitness trainers.
