Subcommittee Description

The ACR Continuing Education Accreditation Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the Committee on Education. The subcommittee oversees the integrity, transparency, and compliance of the ACR's continuing education activities. Its primary duties include the systematic collection, review, and management of disclosure information related to faculty, speakers, and educational content creators to ensure transparency regarding financial relationships and potential conflicts of interest.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain protocols that identify, evaluate, and manage any conflicts of interest that could potentially influence educational content or delivery
  • Review disclosures and identify potential conflicts of interest related to planners, faculty, and content
  • Participate in the review of educational activities to ensure content is unbiased, evidence-based, and free from commercial bias
  • Confirm that learner-facing disclosures are accurate, complete, and appropriately communicated
  • Apply established protocols consistently when evaluating educational content and conflict of interest documentation
  • Provide subject matter and clinical expertise to support high-quality, compliant educational programming
  • Participate in ongoing evaluation of committee policies and recommend improvements based on accreditation updates or review findings
  • Monitor updates in accreditation standards and best practices, regularly reviewing policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement

The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.

Time Commitments

Virtual

  • Meetings: 3–4 times per year
  • Asynchronous Work: 10–20 hours of additional work

In-Person

  • Perform 1–2 hours of speaker presentation reviews during ACR Convergence

Recommended Qualifications

The ACR Continuing Education Accreditation Subcommittee welcomes all interested volunteers.

Interested participants for this subcommittee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of ACCME and/or Joint Accreditation standards and requirements
  • Maintain familiarity with updates to accreditation criteria, policies, and best practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of continuing education principles, adult learning theory, and evidence-based practice
  • Be able to support continuous quality improvement of continuing education policies, processes, and outcomes
