Subcommittee Description
The ACR E-Learning Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the ACR Committee on Training (COT). It oversees the quality, creation, and implementation of the COT’s enduring materials to identify synergies, avoid duplication, identify trends, and evaluate metrics.
The enduring materials include:
- Virtual Rheumatology Practicum for Pediatric Rheumatologists (ViP-Peds)
- Virtual Rheumatology Program for Fellows in Training (V-FIT)
- V-FIT: Meet the Professors
- Rheum2Learn – online education for professionals, educators, trainees, and students
- Rheum4Science – online education for educators and fellows
Responsibilities
- Serving on a working group to develop or maintain enduring content
- Making recommendations to improve faculty and learners' access to available content
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
Virtual
- A one-hour meeting 3–4 times per year
- Meetings are scheduled based on members' availability
Asynchronous Work
- About 4–5 hours per month
Recommended Qualifications
The ACR E-Learning Subcommittee welcomes interested volunteers at all career stages (early/mid/senior) and across disease expertise. The subcommittee mix would benefit from volunteers who dedicate time to rheumatology education.
Interested participants for this subcommittee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Designing curriculum and supporting resources to meet the educational needs of adult learners, such as residents or rheumatology fellows in training
- Designing learner evaluations to assess learners' change in knowledge
- Expertise in basic science is of special interest to the subcommittee as potential contributors to the Rheum4Science working group
- Experience in writing exam items will support the development of board review content to accompany current and new curricula
- Creative, detail oriented, strong collaborator, and willingness to engage in new initiatives
