Subcommittee Description
The Pediatric Rheumatology Symposium (PRSYM) Planning Subcommittee is charged with developing PRSYM, which takes place every two years. The subcommittee shall oversee the content development of the meeting and identify knowledge gaps and emerging advances in the field of pediatric rheumatology.
Responsibilities
Developing PRSYM, including:
- Overseeing the meeting’s content development and identifying knowledge gaps and emerging advances in pediatric rheumatology
- Suggesting and contacting faculty on the ACR’s behalf and, through collaboration with the ACR, ensuring the meeting meets the College’s financial and strategic goals
- Recruiting abstract reviewers and overseeing the review process
- Beginning content planning at least one year before the meeting, as PRSYM takes place every two years
- Attending monthly meetings and periodically completing necessary tasks to ensure compliance with ABIM and ACCME standards
The ACR staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
Meetings
- Virtual: Approximately 12 one-hour meetings annually
Asynchronous Work
- 10–20 hours of additional work annually, excluding in-person PRSYM attendance
Recommended Qualifications
The ACR PRSYM Planning Subcommittee welcomes all interested volunteers. The subcommittee mix would benefit from early-, mid-, and late-career professionals, including a physician associate (PA) and a PhD representative, to ensure a diversity of perspectives and experiences. This will help the committee develop programs that are impactful, scientifically rigorous, and relevant to both current clinical practice and emerging trends in the pediatric community.
Interested participants for this subcommittee should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Interest in collaborating with colleagues
- Willingness to contribute ideas and actively participate in meetings to advance pediatric rheumatology
