Council Description
The Foundation Leadership Development Council consists of a diverse group of ACR, Foundation, and lay individuals in different career stages. The charge of the Council is to lead the leadership and volunteer appointments within the Foundation, and make recommendations to the Foundation Board of Directors to fill open volunteer positions annually.
The goals of the Council include intentional volunteer skills development, effective volunteer orientation for physicians and lay members, increased diversity, improved volunteer pipeline, increased transparency and equity in volunteer placement, structured leadership development opportunity, and alignment with the ACR.
Responsibilities
- Review assigned volunteer applications
- Prepare presentation for the broader council to guide decision making regarding the selected applicants to recommend to the BOD
- Attend virtual meeting to review and discuss selected applicants
The RRF staff is responsible for the administration and project management of all initiatives and programs.
Time Commitments
The majority of the workload occurs between May 15–August 15 each year.
Virtual
- Asynchronous Work
- Between May 15 to July 15 – hours depends on the number to applications assigned to review (can be very busy based on the volume of applications in a given year)
- 2-day meeting in July (involves the weekend)
- Between July 15 and August 15 – a few hours are needed to contact successful applicants and other needed communication
Recommended Qualifications
The Foundation Leadership Development Council welcomes all interested volunteers. The council mix would benefit from applicants who:
- Are familiar with the Foundation and its volunteer groups
- Have historical knowledge of the Foundation
- Have previous volunteer experience on a Foundation Council or Board
Interested participants for this council should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Passionate about the mission and future of the Foundation
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to problem solve in a group setting
- High moral and ethical standards
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Positive, enthusiastic attitude
