Board & Committee Volunteers

The mission of the ACR cannot be achieved without the time, effort, talent and experience of its volunteer leadership Board and committee members. The ACR is committed to equity in the selection of volunteers and desires applications from members of all backgrounds and lived experiences. Applications from both first-time and returning volunteers are encouraged, and the College welcomes self-nominations or nominations of colleagues for open volunteer positions.
Committee appointments are made each year in conjunction with ACR Convergence. Most elected terms are for three years beginning at the time of the annual meeting.

Call for Volunteers: Secretary & Treasurer Positions on the ACR Board of Directors
We are currently welcoming self-nominations for the Secretary and Treasurer officer positions on the ACR Board of Directors. Although the deadline for volunteer applications is the same as for all current open positions across the College, please note it is anticipated that the Secretary position appointment will commence in July following Board approval of the appointment recommendation as submitted by the ACR Committee on Nominations. A 5-8 minute video will be required of all applicants, providing a general introduction and brief responses to the 6 questions below:
The ACR’s mission is to empower rheumatology professionals to excel in their specialty.
- What about our mission excites you?
- What experience do you have related to our mission?
Additional questions to respond to in your video:
- Please tell us what unique skills and vision you will bring to the executive committee and why we should select you as our next ACR officer and a future ACR President.
- In consideration of the financial responsibilities of an ACR officer, how should the ACR focus its efforts and limited resources going forward?
- How can we make the ACR leadership and membership more diverse and responsive to our field with respect to gender, race/ethnicity, career path (practice vs. research), and geographic representation? How can the ACR continue to grow as an inclusive and cohesive organization in our current day and age?
- What do you see as the greatest challenges facing rheumatology today and what can the ACR do to help?
The deadline for submission is June 1.
