At this hybrid virtual and hands-on clinical course rheumatologists and advanced practice providers (APPs) will deliver a range of foundational content for new-to-rheumatology APPs such as performing physical examination, formulating differential diagnosis, and creating treatment plans. The course is focused on practical, clinical application of knowledge.

On-demand access will include recordings of each lecture.

Target Audience
Advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners, physician associates, and pharmacists).

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Perform a comprehensive history and physical examination for a new patient, including a detailed musculoskeletal examination, joint assessment, and joint injections
  • Perform a disease-focused history and physical examination for a follow-up patient, including musculoskeletal examination, joint assessment, and joint injections
  • Formulate an appropriate differential diagnosis
  • Order appropriate laboratory, radiographic examinations, and other diagnostic testing
  • Utilize and integrate results of laboratory, radiographic examinations, and other diagnostic testing into management plans under the supervision/collaboration of a rheumatologist
  • Recognize the impact of social determinants of health and health disparities on provision of care and disease self-management when providing healthcare to diverse communities and populations
  • Recognize skin manifestations in diverse patient populations/skin of color
  • With appropriate supervision/collaboration, recognize and manage a number of rheumatic diseases in the adult rheumatology clinic setting

Full payment is due at the time of registration.

Cancellations and Refund Requests

  • All registrations are final and non-refundable. Please submit any issues in writing to education@rheumatology.org and they will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If a refund is granted, an administrative fee will be deducted: $100 for members and $150 for non-members.
  • No-shows will not receive a refund.
  • ACR is not responsible for airfare, hotel, or other costs incurred by participants in the event of a program or registration cancellation, or delays or cancellations due to inclement weather.
  • Cancelled registrations are nontransferable.
