About the Event
Date:November 6–7, 2026
Location:Orlando, FL
Credit:To Be Announced
On Demand:Not Available
These intensive, two-day, pre-ACR Convergence conferences are designed to meet the specific educational needs of rheumatology professionals who want to learn ultrasound technology. Under the guidance of experts from around the world, attendees will perform hands-on scanning of live models to enhance technical proficiency for the diagnosis of normal and abnormal clinical conditions. At the completion of this course, attendees should be able to demonstrate familiarity with the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the shoulder, elbow, hand, wrist, hip, knee, foot, and ankle, and ultrasound guidance of aspirations, injections, and biopsies.
Both novice and advanced learners are encouraged to join one of the courses. Although documentation is not required, some basic experience in rheumatologic joint sonography is recommended as a prerequisite for the Intermediate-Advanced Rheumatologic Ultrasound Course.
Target Audience
These activities are intended for rheumatology professionals with a beginner to low intermediate level of ultrasound experience, or rheumatology professionals with ultrasound experience interested in advanced learning opportunities. To provide an optimal learning environment, attendance is limited.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the Basic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course, participants will be able to:
- Identify specific indications for ultrasound applications within rheumatology practice
- Integrate ultrasound techniques into their clinical workflows effectively
- Produce high-quality ultrasound images of elementary lesions at a basic level
- Evaluate ultrasound images to enhance clinical decision-making and improve patient education
- Utilize ultrasound guidance proficiently during joint and tendon injection procedures
Upon completion of the Intermediate-Advanced Rheumatologic Ultrasound Course, participants will be able to:
- Identify ultrasound pathologies associated with a range of rheumatic conditions
- Utilize validated scoring systems to analyze and interpret ultrasound images of diverse rheumatic conditions
- Facilitate improved shared decision-making with patients by leveraging insights gained from point-of-care ultrasound images
- Implement dynamic maneuvers that enhance the quality of ultrasound image acquisition

The 2025 Ultrasound Conferences were in-person only events held October 24–25, prior to ACR Convergence 2025 in Chicago, Illinois.
Two courses were offered in 2025. Each course took place over two days, on October 24–25. Participants could select either:
- Basic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course or
- Intermediate-Advanced Rheumatologic Ultrasound Course
Note: Learners may claim up to 15.50 credit hours commensurate with the individual course attended.
The RhMSUS Oversight Committee voted to allow a reduction in required CME for participants in the ACR Ultrasound Conferences.
CME obtained through the ACR Ultrasound Conferences will fulfill ALL CME requirements to sit for the RhMSUS exam. The candidate must apply to sit for the RhMSUS exam within 36 months after earning the ACR Ultrasound Conference credits.
The RhMSUS requirements for non-ACR ultrasound courses remain the same – 24 CME ultrasound hours earned within 36 months prior to application submission.
Both novice and advanced learners are encouraged to join one of the courses. Although documentation is not required, some basic experience in rheumatologic joint sonography is recommended as a prerequisite for the Intermediate-Advanced Rheumatologic Ultrasound Course.
